Bank of Bhutan is pleased to announce the list of candidates who have been short listed for the BoB written examination to be held on 14 March 2010 in Thimphu. The venue for the written examination to be conducted in Thimphu shall be announced on the BoB website and BBS on 11 March 2010 and Kuensel on 12 March 2010.

Please ensure to bring your CID card to be displayed during the written examination for verification without which you shall not be allowed to sit for the written examination.

BoB is pleased to announce the following vacancies for those candidates who are driven and can distinguish themselves with the highest integrity, right attitude towards customers, with a lot of personal initiatives and with a aim to make a successful career in the financial institution

B. Terms and Conditions

1. All vacancies announced shall not be necessarily filled if the quality of the candidates is not up to the satisfaction of the Interview Panel.
2. A candidate who has applied for a particular job category shall be given the grade as mentioned towards the vacancy announced irrespective of higher qualification.
3. All applicants must have attended regular courses of class 11 and 12 for job category C.
4. All applicants must have attended regular courses in college for job category A & B.
5. Graduates may apply for the post of Corporate Assistant (category C). However an applicant should meet the minimum requirements as mentioned in the Job Vacancy Ad.
6. A candidate who has been selected and appointed as a Corporate Assistant shall not leave the Bank without notice. A minimum period of 6 months notice should be given before separating from the bank. On failing to give notice, the employee shall be liable to refund the basic salary for the period remaining.

C. Recruitment Guidelines and Timelines:

The following tentative information is given for your information and necessary action. However please note that management may decide to change any of the following information in the interest of the BoB.

The following are the 3 stages of selection through which a candidate shall go through to be appointed in Bank of Bhutan:

a. Written Test –short listing as per fulfilment as per job criteria in the job ad

  • 14th March 2010 (Sunday)
  • Venue: Shall be confirmed on the BoB website on 10th March 2010
  • Time: 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM

The break up for the written examinations for both officers and assistants is as follows:

Please note that all questions will be objective except for the Essay section.

b. Group Discussion (GD) – Top 5 of Category A, Top 30 of the Category B (Officers) and top 35 of the Category C (Assistants) shall appear for Group Discussion.

  • 20th March 2010 (Saturday)
  • Venue: Shall be confirmed on the BoB website on 18th March 2010
  • Time: 10:00 AM onwards

A GD is a process of selection in which the candidates are divided into groups and are made to present. The intention is to identify and select the best candidates who possess the desired skills.

c. Personal Interview – Top 3 of the category A, Top 25 of the Categories B (Officers) and top 30 of the Category C (Assistants) from the GD shall appear for Personal Interview. Out of this, 1 Officer for category A, 9 Officers for Category B and 15 Assistants for Category C shall be selected.

  • Time: 9:00 AM

D. Job Descriptions:

1. Legal Officer

Designation : Legal Officer/Legal Department
Grade : 8
Total Experience/ Educational Qualifications: Dzongkha (H) min 60%
Reporting to: Chief Legal AdvisorResponsibilities/ Tasks assigned:
1. To assist Chief Legal Advisor
2. Represent in the court of law in important cases
3. Draft charge sheets
4. Assist in day to day work
5. Review cases and legal documents and make draft policy for recovery from default borrowers
6. However BoB shall require you to work around all vertical functions and also in various capacities as per the needs and requirements
7. You shall have to do any other responsibilities that is being assigned to you by the management
Skill sets required to perform the tasks assigned:
Human skills, Interpersonal skills. Drafting skills, Team work, Right attitude and commitment
Summary: BoB is looking for a candidate who is honest, straightforward, confident, good communication skills (both written and spoken English and Dzongkha)

2. Assistant Manager, Operations Department

Designation : Assistant Manager/Operations Department
Grade : 8
Total Experience/ Educational Qualifications:
Graduate-50% in B.Com (H) or 50 % in BA Eco (H) or 60% in any others.
Reporting to : General ManagerResponsibilities/ Tasks assigned:
1. Issue of promissory notes issued by a banker and payable to bearer on demand
2. Processing of payments by way of TT, internet banking and other means
3. Deposits and advances
4. Providing documentary standby LC, guarantees, performance bonds, securities underwriting commitments and other forms of off balance sheet exposures
5. Safe keeping, currency exchange and acting as a financial super market for the sale, distribution or brokerage with or without advice of insurance, unit trust and similar financial products
6. However BoB shall require you to work around all vertical functions and also in various capacities as per the needs and requirements
7. You shall have to do any other responsibilities that is being assigned to you by the management.
Skill sets required to perform the tasks assigned:
Analytical skills, team work, very good communication skills, Basic Computer Skills and Customer handling skills, ability to work under pressure
Summary: The Candidate should be flexible in posting, working hours. He/she should possess basic banking knowledge, reasoning power and the will to learn.

3. Assistant Manager, Administration

Designation : Assistant Manager/Administration Division
Grade : 8
Total Experience/Educational Qualification:
Graduate- Min 50% in B. Com (H) or min 50% in B. A. Eco (H) or min 60% in any other
Reporting to: Head, AdministrationResponsibilities/ Tasks assigned:
1. Annual closing work
2. Balance sheet preparation
3. Co-ordination with all Audit Agencies from outside that is statutory audit, RMA Audit, Tax audit, Royal Audit
4. Deputed for internal audit and inspection affair
5. Assisting Company Secretary
6. You shall have to do any other responsibilities that is being assigned to you by the management
Skill sets required to perform the tasks assigned:
Analytical skills, team work, good communication, Basic Computer Skills Customer handling skills
Summary: A candidate should have a determination to work hard with good analytical skills and good reasoning power and flexible for posting.

4. Assistant Manager, Credit

Designation : Assistant Manager/Credit Department
Grade : 8
Total Experience/Educational Qualification:
Graduate- Min 50% in B. Com (H) or min 50% in B. A. Eco (H) or min 60% in any other
Reporting to: Chief Credit OfficerResponsibilities/ Tasks assigned:
1. Deal with various kinds of loans port folio
2. RMA returns
3. FIs Clearances
4. Maintain and update Customer Records
5. Work with sales team to understand the businesses of key customers
6. Implement credit limit control by monitoring the credit limit
7. You shall have to do any other responsibilities that is being assigned to you by the management
Skill sets required to perform the tasks assigned:
Analytical skills, team work, good communication, Basic Computer Skills Customer handling skills, Meticulous and organised.
Summary: The candidate has to have good marketing skills, with determination to learn. He/she should also possess the basic of banking knowledge with good data analytical power.

5. Coporate Assistant, Operations Department

Designation : Corporate Assistant/Operations Department
Grade : 11
Total Experience/Educational Qualification:
Class 12 pass – Preference shall be given to those with basic computer skills
Reporting to : Branch ManagerResponsibilities/ Tasks assigned:
1. In charge of branch corporate accounts
2. Provide excellent services to the corporate
3. Operate on the Flex cube software
4. Saving/ Recurring section
5. Attend to customers
6. Overall in charge of the General Section like collections, DD, FC, BCG, BoB drafts,
7. Customer Inquiry
8. All GL works
9. Desk work in capacity
10. Also works in clean cash section including collections, TTs and cash warrants.
11. Inter Branch Correspondences etc.
12. You shall have to do any other responsibilities that is being assigned to you by the management
Skill sets required to perform the tasks assigned:
Analytical skills, team work, good communication, Basic Computer Skills Customer handling skills
Summary: The candidate should be customer orientated with good marketing skills. He/she should also have the determination to work hard and cooperate with other employees
