To revamp the existing minor account and to attract more young savers of the kingdom, we revamp product of minor account as young savers account.


  • Young savers account are opened on behalf of minors under the guardianship of natural/court appointed guardians.
  • Parents may also open a joint account with their minor child/children.

Savings Deposit Accounts are treated as dormant in case there is no operations i.e. debit or credit entry for 1 Year or more. Manual deposit will have to be made in order to activate the account.


A depositor wishing to close his account can do so by surrendering the passbook and unused cheque leaves along with a written application to the Bank.

Empower Savings Account


Empower Saving is a sub product under Saving Deposit Category. Empower Saving onboard the customers into the digital platform through the usage of delivery channel services(mBoB,Internet Banking and ATM) . The customers who opt for Empower Saving can also maintain/open additional Normal Saving Account under same CIF.


Savings Deposit Account can be opened by:

  • Individual,
  • either or survivor


  • The prevailing rate of interest on Empower Savings Deposit Account is 5.25% per annum, calculated on daily product basis.
  • No upper limit on account balance.
  • The interest would be paid irrespective of number of withdrawals.

The Bank of Bhutan Limited (BoB) is pleased to announce the vacancy for the post of Director Credit.
1. Eligibility Criteria as detailed below:

Education Qualification Minimum of B.Com/BBA/BBA (Eco) from a recognized institute with regular (full time) program.
Work Experience 1. Should have at least 15 years (including a maximum of 24 months for higher studies/sabbatical) in the field of Business Administration/Finance and Accounts in a medium to large organization.
2. Should have headed a division in an organization for a period of three (3) years at a senior level – P1 and above in the civil service or General Manager position and above in Corporate and Private Sectors.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities The candidate’s CV should demonstrate the following:
1. Good communication skills including presentation;
2. Strong analytical abilities;
3. A working knowledge of statistics and confidence to make decisions that will affect BoB’s bottom line;
4. Evaluation of credit requests using credit scores, projected profits and losses and risk factors;
5. Ability to lead and manage Retail Credit, Project Finance, Green Banking, Corporate Banking and Trade Services.;
6. Negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Service Record Should possess clean service record without any office memos and cautionary notice and not be convicted by the court of law or any criminal Charges.
Performance Appraisal Should have minimum of “Good” in Employee Appraisal System for the recent 4 years, only if applicable.
BIT/CIT/PIT Certificate Candidates should submit the valid BIT/CIT/PIT/CIB certificate issued by the relevant agencies, only if applicable.
Age Candidate should not be older than 55 years of age on the last working date of receiving the application deadlines.

Medical Loan

Healthcare has become very expensive and not everyone can afford it therefore, BoB is aiming to support them by financing medical loan to meet the health expenses.


Medical loan is aimed to cover emergency or planned medical procedures. A personal medical loan ensures that you get quality medical care with no delay. These medical loans can be used to pay for medical expenses including hospitalisation bills, medical prescription bills, surgeries and other related expenses.


    A. Salaried
  • Regular employee of Government Departments (Bhutanese), Government Corporation, State Owned Enterprises (SOEs), Joint Corporation and Autonomous bodies (entitled to gratuity and maintains Provident Fund (PF)) with minimum of 3 years confirmed service including probation period.
  • Employees of Non-Government Organization (NGOs), UN, Listed Companies, Local Government Functionaries/Officials and Contract (all entitled to gratuity and maintains PF) with minimum of 3 years confirmed service including probation period,
  • Employees of Private Companies other than listed companies (where the company has been in operation for more than 5 years and the employee who is entitled to gratuity and maintains PF) with minimum of 4 years confirmed service including probation period.
  • B. Collateral
  • Any individual who has fixed assets (land or (land & building)) with adequate proof of income.
  • Existing client – we may accept for extension of securities already charged with the Bank with enough margin of safety and source of repayment.

All these conditions will be subject to fulfillment of the LTI and LTV norms.


The applicant should be a close relative to the diseased or nominated by the patient if the patient is in critical stage. Otherwise, the patient can apply the loan by herself/himself.


  • Irrespective of the number of years in service, Third Party Guarantee is required for all the applicants mentioned under the eligibility clause; and
  • For senior officials and executives who cannot get guarantor of same grade, a guarantor of one grade lower from same agency/ ministry or equivalent position from civil servants/SOEs or their Dy. Officer to be obtained.
  • For private employees, employer guarantee or a civil service guarantee with more than 5 years in service to be obtained subject to equivalent or higher net pay than the applicant.
  • No guarantor is required if the property is owned by the applicant and repayment is to be serviced by the applicant.

Loan Limits

  • Collateral Based: Maximum of Nu. 1,000,000.00 (Inclusive of medical and other expenses)
  • Salary Based: Maximum of Nu. 500,000.00 (Inclusive of medical and other expenses)


  • Maximum 7 years.

Security Details

  • PF and gratuity backed by guarantor (Bhutanese nationals) and should be a regular/contract employee for all applicants, irrelevant of the employer and the guarantor. They shall stand liable for the loan till the liquidation of the loan. However, the guarantor should not stand guarantee for more than 3 active loans (salary based). To be verified from CIB report.
  • For Individuals providing fixed assets as collaterals – No guarantor is required in case the securities are in the name of the borrower and repayment is to be serviced by him/her. Otherwise, the borrower has to provide a guarantor possessing fixed assets and income source for servicing the loan.

  • Copy of valid Citizenship Identity (CID) of both the applicant and the guarantor as applicable.
  • Copy of Citizenship Identity Card (CID) of patient (If the applicant is not the patient).
