If you receive any calls (except from BoB Contact Center when you have lodged a concern with them +975 2 349903), SMS and Email asking for personal details such as Account number or ATM Card number, please do not share. Bank of Bhutan will never ask for personal details of clients. It’s all spam.

Discontinuation of INR Prepaid Card

Effective from May 14, 2024, the Bank of Bhutan has discontinued the issuance of new MasterCard Prepaid Cards.

Please take note of the following important information if you currently hold a valid BoB MasterCard Prepaid Card:

1. Transaction Support: Your valid card will remain usable as usual until June 30, 2024. Please continue to use it during this transition period.

2. Refunds and Disputes: We are committed to assisting with your refunds and resolving any disputes. This support will continue beyond the cutoff date of June 30, 2024, until all disputes and refunds are fully processed.

3. Alternatives to the BoB MasterCard Prepaid Card: We recommend using our BoB VISA Domestic Debit Card as an alternative. This card offers the same usability and spending limits, along with these additional benefits:

  • Instant PIN generation and PIN reset features via the mBoB app
  • Convenient card ON/OFF functionality through the mBoB app
  • Enhanced security with our advanced fraud risk management system

4. Unused Balances on Card: Any unused balances on your Prepaid Card by June 30, 2024, will be automatically refunded to your respective savings account. No need to submit a refund form. Please note that the automatic reversal may take some time to be deposited into your account.

If you wish to transfer the card’s available balance to your savings account before 30th June 2024, please fill out the refund form and submit it to your nearest BoB branch.

Process to transfer/refund INR prepaid Card balance to your BoB account

b. Fill Out the Refund Form:

  • Complete all required fields in the form accurately.

c. Submit the Form:

  • Take the completed refund form and required documents to the nearest branch of our bank.

d. Review by Official:

  • Our concerned official will review the submitted form and documents.
  • If additional information or clarification is needed, you will be contacted by the bank.

e. Approval and Processing:

  • Once the form and documents are verified and approved, the refund process will begin.
  • The official will provide you with an estimated time for the refund to be processed.

f. Refund Transfer:

  • The refund amount will be transferred to your BoB Bank account.
